Fishing day

Today i went to upstate for fishing. It is very great, i got 12 fishs in total, and one is the most large one, it is almost 20 inches length. On the way, we took a lot of pictures with the beautiful landscape, we crossed some rivers and lakes. Finally we took 1 hour to get to the fishing place. The river calls Cross river, and it's water is very clear, not as we see in New York City. We can even see the fish swimming in the water, that is very beautiful place. Then we shart to fishing, at the end we got a lot of fish. I love fishing, and i have a great day.

Finally i finish all of my finals

Yestoday is my last day of school. I took 3 finals in one day, math, business law, and english. Time goes very fast, i remember the beginning of this semester, the first day i get in the english class. Everyone is new for me, i felf tension about this class, and i don't know what can i do for getting a high grade in this class. But after few classes, i felf better. Prof.Childers is a very nice and beauty teacher, we discussed many interesting topic during the class time, and we wrote some good topic essay also. It made me learn many. Soda

Water is a crucial beverage in human survival. It's no myth that people can't live without it. But sometimes this low-flavor drink just isn't enough to quench your thirst. Instead, many people crave highly sugared sodas and pops, loaded with caffeine, comfort and flavor. But even thought people know that soda is not good for our health, they still drink a lot of it. But we need to take care of our body, good health is very important for us.

Cleaning up the Top Toolbar...

Expanded "Update" Menu - we've replaced the old "blog now!" menu (which had options only for adding weblogs, photos and pulses) with a *full menu* of update options *including* new "edit" links to give you easy access to your various manager pages (e.g. photo manager)
Prominent "Help" Link - we've added a prominent link to our help forums, so you can easily get answers to pressing questions like, "When is Xanga going to launch the customizable private pages?!" (A: soon! This toolbar update is actually part of that project.)
A Bit Better Organized - in the old toolbar, the menu of links under your username had a strange mix of private and public pages; in this updated toolbar, the menus under each link are organized as follows:
under your username - links to your private pages (plus your current credit count, which is basically a private piece of info)
under "view site" - links to your public pages
under "update" - full menu of update & edit links

What is love

LOVE? Putting aside the fact that it is an over-used word in today’s world, it’s beautiful. Actually, It is beyond beautiful, beyond amazing, beyond ecstatic. It makes all of us human-babies do the darnest things. It makes us sing, it makes us dance, it makes us laugh, it makes us smile, it makes us write, it makes us fight with our parents, it makes us spend our money on the littlest things, it makes us.. simply put, it makes us so happy.

What you really want

I wonder how many of us go through life wanting things to which we never give voice. Whether it be a dream job, an acquired skill, or even unexpressed feelings. I've tried to live my life without these kinds of regrets, but I've inevitably come across situations in which some words and desires were better left unsaid. It's a fact of life for the prudent and considerate I suppose.

1st Birthday

Yesterday was my cousin's 1st birthday party. I took a couple of videos of her doing something absolutely adorable, but for some reason it did not upload into the computer, and I didn't know. I ended up deleting the files on my camera after I uploaded them because I had so many files I just wanted to clear it out right away before I forgot. And now I'm completely bummed because I lost some recorded kodak moments. BOOO!

what the hell this is?!

It's a Cantor’s Giant Soft-shelled Turtle. It's a freshwater turtle that can grow up to about 6 feet in length, and they can weigh about 50 pounds. Its eyes are close to it's snout, and it usually spends it's day buried in the sand with it's eyes and mouth protruding. They were thought to be extinct until a group of researchers found a breeding site on the coast of Cambodia. Now when mating season comes around, it's heavily guarded to the extent where the military protects the beach.

Facebook Ruined Communication

I enjoy Facebook and social networking like many people. I have family and friends spread all over the world and it has been nice to see their pictures and kind of keep in contact that way. That being said, I really hate what they’ve done to interpersonal relationships. Since the beginning of the year, I’ve played witness to several areas where someone has relied on Facebook when they probably should have written a letter or even called on the phone. It’s kind of sad that people seem to have forgotten about some of the basic tenets of the care and maintaining of good relationships.

Fishing

Now I have a new hooby, that is Fishing. Few month ago, I went to fishing with my friend, that was the 1st time i went to fishing. After that time, I love to fishing very much. Now when I have time, I will go to fishing with my friend. Last week, I went to upstate to fishing, and I fished a big fish, I never been fish that big before. I was very excited for that. Fishing can train people become more patience, also when you got a fish, you will feel very excited and happy.

Sad.........

Yesterday my friend told a news for last week. A Chinese lady killed by a Mexican. It happened in Flushing between 8pm - 9pm. The lady on the way of home, a Mexican came to pull her to a lane, and the lady ask "help", but nobody help her even somebody go accross. That's very bad, because nobody tried to help her, finally, when she took to the hospital, she died. It's very sad, if somebody can help her at that time, then she won't be died. For this case, I think people need to think about it, and if next time happened again, everybody should try their best to help.

Loneless

As Elvis Presley says : “Are you lonesome tonight?” and when you’re alone, what do you really do? How do you deal, how do you cope with yourself? Is it a burden? Or is it for you a way to dive deep into your soul and understand yourself? In my case, it’s both. Sometimes I feel really alone, and I have no one to talk to. Sometimes there is this moment that I really need to be alone and to understand what’s going on, not in the world, but within myself. So, your thoughts on loneliness, that very very strange feeling that once a day or a week, we do feel.

What is fear

Contrary to what we believe, fear does not arise because we feel utterly alone. If we were totally alone there wouldn’t be anything to fear. Actually fear comes from the fact that we imagine there are forces ready to attack us, things that escape from our power to understand. Our fear arises from what we can’t grasp. What we don’t understand is actually what feels us with dread. The moment we realize that things that go beyond our knowledge are not harmful, then the object of fear disappears.

Bad Day

Especially when it comes to the point where I have to hand this essay all the way up on the 3rd floor of the Science building by 1:00pm, I have to literally run to the shop and come back INTO school, which is tiring. It was already 12:54pm-ish and the time is Ticking at a fast interval while I was at the computer lab just finished this essay. Right at that moment, there was no time to go to either of the places, in addition to having to gmail my essay through the computer, wait for the prints, and paying for them, and the time to run to the office to hand it in by 1pm. Oh, and especially if the printing shop mentions that their computers are infected by viruses, I won't let the computer won't get in my own way! In any case, I'm done with that worthless shop.

My Home Town

Today I heard that my cousin booked a cheap ticket to Hong Kong for $890 dollars. He is going to the Shanghai World Expo and he is visiting the pavillions. He really wants to go to the Japanese one. He heard there are robots and other cool stuff. I want to go to Shanghai also, because I never visit World Expo before, also this is the first time that open in my home towm. I am very proud of my country.

Japanese Friend

Today I met a Japanese friend. He is studying English at University and he is very nice. He graduated from Tokyo University and he is 4 years older than me. He is very kind, and he gave me some of his japanese noodles to take home with me! I'm so happy and ecxcited about it. I never met anyone this nice to me. Japanese people are so nice to me. I love them! I'm planning to treat him to dinner next week, and also take some nice pictures for facebook.

My Job

Today it was a busy day of work. My co-worker is very stubborn and he likes to get me in trouble at work. He said i can't rest if the bubble tea shop is not busy even. I'm so mad at him because he is very shy, but today he had to say something so mean to me. I really want to quit this job and find a real one. I hope my boss didn't fire me still. Anyway Im looking for a new job. Maybe I'll work for the insurance company. I can make some good benefits and pay off for my school and spend on a vacation.

Bad News

Today I heard from my Canadian Cousin that his grandma is very sick. She has lung cancer and she is 88 year old. I'm so sad to hear that someone is feeling so sick, and I hope she gets better but then the doctor said they can't cure her. His grandma has been smoking, if she didn't, she would live longer. But in anyway, she should be so happy that she has lived so far. She is really lucky. I hope my cousin feels better. Smile!

Going to Japan

I have finally decided that I will be going to Japan in Summer. I have never been to any other country besides China, and US. I'm so excited since I'm getting a vacation to go to Japan. I really love Japanese culture and food and I just can't believe that I'm going. I have a really close cousin in Japan that we used to hangout alot in the old days. Hello Japan! Here I come!

You can see the determination in his eyes

That's the way a friend described someone she had just met. She was sure that he's going places. Once the determination is in his eyes, the learning will take care of itself. On the other hand, if I can see the fear in your eyes, then I'm not sure that learning alone will take care of the problem. No one can prove that the path you're on is risk free or guaranteed to work. Searching for more proof is futile. Searching for more determination makes more sense.

Good at talking & good at doing

The marketing department used to be in charge of talking. Ads are talking. Flyers are talking. Billboards are talking. Trade shows are talking. Now, of course, marketing can't talk so much, because people can't be easily forced to listen. So the only option is to be in charge of doing. Which means the product, the service, the interaction, the effluent and other detritus left behind when you're done. If you're in marketing and you're not in charge of the doing, you're not going to be able to do your job.

Final Week

This is the last week for the Fall'10, time goes very fast. Students are very busy this week, because all of them need to prepare for the final. Every body want to get a good grade for the couses. Due to the final, they sleep very late and get up earlier, then they can use most time for study. Every body study very hard, try their best to do , do not want to miss anything. I hope I can get a good grade in all the classes.

MY NEIGHBORHOOD

My neighborhood is located at Bayside, Queens, New York. Bayside is a classic model for the concept of better city, better lives. This is the topic of the world EXPO 2010. Bayside is a place that located at north-east of New York City, nearby Little Bay and Little Neck Bay. Cross Island Parkway is the main connection between Bayside and Whitestone. And Clearview Expressway is connecting to its south side-Fresh Meadow. East side, it has the LongIsland Expressway to connecting to Long Island. And last at the North side the Throgs Neck Bridge is between Bayside and the Bronx.
Bayside is one of the city has a great environment in New York City. It has many of parks for proving a wonderful rest for its resident. Also Bayside has many broad and flat roads are proving convenience travel. Trees are all around the city, so fresh air is all around the resident. Bayside is a clean city, you will hard to find a piece of paper on the ground. There is a very big difference between Bayside and other cities, Bayside doesn’t have any factories, and this is the reason for proving the best lives to the resident.
Bayside is one of the community has the best opportunity for education. Bayside High School, Cardozo High School and Francis Louis High School are one of the schools standing top in New York City’s education system. Queensborough community college is one of the branches of City University of New York. Many of people are choosing to move to Bayside just because the school district.
Bayside also is one of the powerful cities in economy. Stories, gas stations, and super markets are all over the city. Northern blvd and Bell blvd are the marks of it.
I begin to take a walk from Bay Terrace Mall. Bay Terrace Mall is the largest shopping mall in Bayside. It has book store, super market, cinema, and a lot of cloths store. Bay Terrace Mall has a huge parking lot, its very convenience for consumers. Cross the mall, I am in Bell blvd and 26th Ave, and I decide do point to Bayside High School. Most of houses in Bayside are single family homes. And they also have a huge front yard and back yard. This is residential area, so the street is quiet, but I can see someone is walking with their dogs. 10 minutes later, I reach Bayside High School. In front of the school is a large park with one soccer field and one basketball field, beside the park is a child playground. Students are playing games in the park after school. And the school soccer team is practicing. I keep going, back to Bell blvd and 35th Ave. residential was replaced by business stores. I keep moving on Bell blvd. This is a busy commercial street, and vehicles and pedestrian are full around the street. After Northern blvd, I see residential area again. On Northern blvd, I turn right on 223rd St. I see a lake, people fishing in the lake, and some people jogging beside the lake. I close my eye, and imagine, this will be the most beautiful picture I saw today.
5 minutes later, I reach Queensborough community college. Beside the Queensborough is Cardozo High School. Then I take the bus to go home.

VEIL

Veil is a sign of Muslim women, and it also is a sign of blocked their freedom, opportunity of educated, career, and others. Slamic law is the product of Quranic guidelines, as understood by Islamic jurisprudence, as well as of the interpretations derived from the traditions of Prophet Muhammad, that were agreed upon by majority of Muslim scholars as authentic beyond doubt based on the Science of Hadith These interpretations and their application were shaped by the historical context of the Muslim world at the time they were written. Many of the earliest writings were from a time of tribal warfare which could have been inappropriate for the 21st Century.
The Marxist writer, Valentine M. Moghadam argues that the position of women are mostly influenced by the extent of urbanization, industrialization, proletarization and political ploys of the state managers rather than culture or intrinsic properties of Islam; Islam, Moghadam argues, is neither more nor less patriarchal than other world religions especially Hinduism, Christianity and Judaism.

LANGUAGE AND POWER

I remember that was in the year i am grade 3. Almost everyday after school, i and my friends will play soccer at the park behind our school. There is one day changed. Around ten people came with the soccer ball, wearing different school uniform, "hey, your low grade stupids, get out of the field." We are fear because they are in different school, and looks like grade 5 or grade 6. "Why we should leave? We have been here first." I shouted. "Because you are a little boy, and you are suppose to learning how to drink milk at home." Then they just took the field to play soccer, and we can just leave.

MUSIC

I like listen to music when I am free. I feel music is a good way to relax myself. There are many different types of music in our lives. You can choose one of you like. When I have pressure or trouble, then i will take a rest and listen to music, let my mind also has rest, also makes me so comfortable. After listen to music, my heart will become calm, then will let my mind feel clear, make me have more power to focus on others.

SPRING-BREAK

In this spring break, I went to Casino to watch concert with my friends. The Band Team came from Taiwan, there were so many people go to watch them. They are very popular in Taiwan and China. In the concert, every body is very exited, they danced with the Band together. Even though the concert opened at 2am, nobody feel tired and sleepy. They followed singer's pose to do and they did not want to leave after the concert finished. I liked the show very much.

MY HOBBY

My hobby is soccer. I play it with my friend every Friday. I like soccer because it is a team-work game. Every team member has their own position. I played soccer since 4 years old, and i was the soccer team member in primary school, and jouiner school. I made friends when I play soccer in the park. Soccer is a good sport for us because it is a whole body movement. Soccer is one of my favorite sports.

CENSUS

These days, census are cover in our lives. You will see so many posters to remind you to fill out the census every where. That shows census is very important for us. It not only can know how many population in USA, also they can count how many population in different countries. I feel Census is a very good idea to calculate population, every body must need to do. This is a good responding for the countries.

ATTENDING COLLEGE

I am attending college because i need to prepare for a career also want to study something i love. Money is very important for me, because if you do not have money, then you can not live in the world; also all the people want to have high education, the purpose is to get more money in the future. Even though money is not the whole things in our lives, but it is a essential thing for us.

COLLEGE ATHLETES GET PAID

College athletes should not get paid. Because they are not professional athletes, they cannot get income for college. For the professional athletes, the companies can get income from them, they are sources of income for the companies. But college never use athletes to get income; On the contrary, they provide equipments, place to athletes to practices, also they provide funds for them. So i suggest college should not pay for athletes then they can save money for college.

HOME-SCHOOLING

I do not like home-schooling, I would not consider home-schooling my own children. Because schools have professional teachers. They have experiences and knowledge to teach students, also schools have education system so that if students attend to school, then they can learn formal knowledge. For home-schooling, the advantage is children do not need to go to school so they can stay at home. But the disadvantage is they cannot learn formal education at home, because home-schooling is not professional, everybody can become a home-schooling teacher.

SAME-SEX SCHOOL

i disagree for the same-sex school, i would not attend one also i would not consider putting my own children in one. Because if all the children attend to same-sex schools, then they only can communicate with the same-sex people. They will lose communicate skill with different sex. After they graduate from same-sex high school, they won't know how to along with the other different sex people. That is not good for them, also that is not good for them to work in the future.

NYC high school closing

19 NYC High Schools Were Illegally Closed, Judge Rules; Mike Bloomberg, Joel Klein Get Smacked Down.
A judge ruled today that New York City's Department of Education illegally closed 19 high schools earlier this year. Several news outlets are reporting the breaking decision (Post, WABC).
The move to close the schools earlier this year was contentious and included a protest in front of Mayor Bloomberg's house. The actual vote to do so followed a raucous nine-hour hearing on January 26 before the Panel for Educational Policy.

The immediate impact of the ruling is not clear, but the jubilation at one school on the death list is. "Everyone is ecstatic at the news. Everyone is thrilled," says Christine Rowland, a vigorous opponent of the closures who teaches at Christopher Columbus High School in the Bronx. "The timing is wonderful. People are just about to have a break, and we're very, very happy."

Bloomberg and Schools Chancellor Joel Klein have both been proponents of closing the 19 low-performing high schools and replacing them with multiple, smaller schools. Opponents have charged that the plan is a shell game that disproportionately affects low-income, minority neighborhoods, and fails to take into account what the neighborhoods want.

But State Supreme Court Judge Joan Lobis ruled the department's Panel for Education Policy committed "significant violations of Education Law" and "appeared to trivialize the whole notion of community involvement in decisions regarding the closing or phasing out of schools," WABC reports.

The United Federation of Teachers and the NAACP sued last month to stop the closures, and it appears that they have succeeded — at least until an appeal.

Letters notifying eighth-graders where they will be going next year had been scheduled to be mailed earlier this week but were delayed pending today's ruling.

I disagree with the education department trying to closing some high school. In NYC, population are still increasing, including many of immigration and new born people, and the number of people in high school is increasing also. The year of 2003, Bayside high school have 1500 students, but in 2008, the number is almost 3000. So we can see what we need is to set up more high school not closing.

I BELIEVE IN SELF-EDUCATION

I believe self-education is more important than institution education because self education can be anything that takes you out of your comfort zone. The important part is keeping an open mind and searching for fresh ideas. People can take any places when they would like to educated themselve, and they have the power of motive. So i belive self education is more important.

Fairytale affect children

Almost every child likes to read or listen fairytale. Fairytale is totally different to the real world, we have prince, princess, and castle. When i was a child, i dream i can become a prince, i could help and save the people who needs help. In fairytale, everything is beautiful, shin, and perfect. But unfortunately, is totally different to the world we are living. Child laren from the fairytale for honest, integrity, and brave, that is wouderful for children. But fairytale can not teach the child what they need to learn for living in this real world.

Snow Day

Today, a snow storm comes. This is another storm after last week's super snow storm. I love snow, since the first time i touch it at the first year i came to the United State. My hometown is in south China, like Miami, it could not snow. So i dreamed many times of the view of snowing. It must be very beautiful.
Fall 2003, "come, it's snowing." my cousin yelling me. This is the first time i see the real snow and touch it. I could not believe my eyes, it's really really beautiful, much more than i expect.

Second Spring

Second Spring

We have no passions left to love the spring
Who had suffered autumn as we did, alone
Walking through dominions of a browning laughter
Carrying our loneliness our loving and our grief.

How can we know another spring.
For there will come no flower where was fruit before
Now we have little use for spring's relentless seeking
Who walked the long, unquestioned path
Straight into autumn's arms
Who saw the summer passions wither
Into a leaf to hide our naked tears.

Earth is still sweet, for autumn teaches bearing
And new sun will warm our proud and cautious feet
But spring came once
And we have seen the road that led through summer
Beautiful and bright as clover on a hill
Become a vast appalling wilderness and rain
While we stood still, racked on the autumn's knowing
Binding cold love to us with the corners of her shroud.

Publication Information: Book Title: The Collected Poems of Audre Lorde. Contributors: Audre Lorde - author. Publisher: W. W. Norton. Place of Publication: New York. Publication Year: 1997. Page Number: 10.

This poem speaks of Spring as a beautiful season, that may never be replaced. The poet uses many types literary techniques, such as personification and metaphors. The poet says "cautious feet," an example of personification. An example of metaphor is when the poet says the earth is sweet. Also, simile is used to describe the road is like clover on a hill. After Spring, it will become Summer and then Fall. The seasons do not stop changing, for they will keep on going. One season will replace the next. But, since it is a cycle, the second spring will come again. The poem at first has a tone of sadness, but by the end transforms to a happier tone. I think this poem can be compared to our lives is a cycle as well.

I REMEMBER

I remember when i was 3 years old, my grandma and grandpa came to The United State, i was alone in China. I just cry, and cry. I don't even know what is sad by that time, but right now, i know i was really really sad at that time.
I remember them, even i already forget their name. They taught me the word of FRIEND, we play, we smile, we cry together. But after i moved, i lost them forever. 1991
I remember the first time my father took me to school. Tall building, big soccer field, everything were beautiful.
I remember my first pet.
I remember the park that i play soccer ball everyday.
I remember the first time i play for the school soccer team.
